New Activities in Northern Ireland During Lockdown

While Northern Ireland is geographically separate from the rest of the UK, we must remember that the main government in Westminster in London still dictates a lot of what happens in the country. Local politicians in Northern Ireland have been responsible on a lower level for setting some slightly different laws from the rest of the UK. In reality, Northern Ireland has always been a little bit different so it is no surprise that during the Coronavirus pandemic, the country has treated things slightly differently. The UK houses around 70 million people, but only 1.8 of those live in Northern Ireland. Here are a few new activities to consider during the Coronavirus era.

1.Online Parties

Just because the bars are shut doesn’t mean that partying has ended. It doesn’t have to end. You can continue to see your friends in a virtual way. Sure, it might not be the same online chatting but it’s only for a temporary period before the world returns to normal. Sign up to Zoom and you can start to host and join online parties in an online room. Dress up for it, bring your own food and drink and act like you would if you were in a pub with your friends. It might not be as good as a night out in Belfast city, but still – it’s the next best thing for now.

2.New Hobbies

Get indulging in new hobbies. Things you also wanted to do, but were too busy before. Think of hobbies you can do from the comfort of your own home. For example, you can stay at home and order lots of things online. This could mean taking up stamp collecting, growing your own Cannabis Seeds UK or even becoming a model train expert. You could always become a football geek and collect football stickers for Euro 2020 – the tournament that never actually happened.

3.Professional Blogging

Now is your big chance to finally start that blog. For years and years you might have been too busy working or being a parent to even consider becoming a blogger. Now is the time to start blogging. Get logged onto WordPress and work out how to get a blog up and running. Once you have chosen your niche and your title, you can then get to work on the content. With the right kind of passion and commitment, a blog can easily turn professional and become a new business for you. Whether it’s a blog on Bangor’s seaside attractions or the nostalgia from Barry’s in Portrush, be sure to build up a good audience and become the best blogger out there.

These are just three quick ideas to stay busy during the pandemic and lockdown. Hopefully it won’t be long until Northern Ireland returns to some kind of normality.

Stay safe!
